A major turning point came in early 2006 when Kelford became the first company in the southern hemisphere to install a masterless CNC cam grinding machine. This advancement enabled the production of precision custom camshafts at scale, with improved surface finish and consistency, and opened the door to supplying aftermarket camshafts to customers worldwide. This milestone led to the rebrand known today as Kelford Cams.

In 2013, the company was acquired by Tony Gault, marking the beginning of a significant investment programme focused on technology, research, and manufacturing capacity. With Kevin Ban continuing to contribute his expertise, Kelford strengthened its position as a leading custom camshaft manufacturer, investing heavily in advanced CNC grinding equipment and, most importantly, skilled personnel.

Kelford’s resilience was tested during the devastating Christchurch earthquake of 2011, yet the company emerged stronger. Operations were restored, new camshaft profiles were developed, and Kelford further established itself as a dependable performance ally.
